Sammakka Saralamma Jathara is known as Medaram Jathara. It is tribal festival of goddesses celebrated in the Telangana State in Jayashankar Bhupalpally District. Medaram is a forest place in the Etunagaram wildlife sanctuary.
This jatara is a history of 700 years. Once the tribal festival of Medaram forest region went in the deep forest for hunting. The tribal leaders (Koya Doralu) adopted the child and brought her to village. All the people in that village felt that, their God kondadevara (tribal god) had reached them in the form of this child. The tribal elders named her as Sammakka.
She was married to Padigidharaj. He was the ruler of Medarm village and subordinate king of Prathapa Rudra, kakatiya dynasty. They were blessed with a son Jampanna and Two daughters Saralamma and Nagulamma.

Medaram jathara bedins at Tadvai Mandal in Jayashakar District in the month of February once in every two years and will continue 3 days. i.e. magha shuda pournami. It is believed that after kumba Mela and attracts the largest jatara is a State festival of Govt.of Telangana State in india.
